Public Participation
Improved public awareness and participation in water management issues
is one of the Water Framework Directive’s core objectives.
The project will encourage active involvement of the public
in development of water development management plans.
The Directive states “Member States shall encourage the active
involvement of all interested parties in the implementation
of this directive, in particular in the production,
review and updating of the river basin management plans.”
In order to encourage the participation of members of the
general public and stakeholders, the project will give presentations
to encourage participation and allow for easy access to information
regarding the project and indeed the Water Framework Directive.
A number of such presentations have been held to date.
Further details are available from our Water Matters webpage.

The Management Plan sets out how we plan to manage our rivers, lakes, groundwaters
