We would like to invite you to the Water Information Days that will be held in the South Western District in April and May 2009 to discuss the Draft River Basin Management Plan for the South Western River Basin District which was published on the 22nd December 2008.

The Management Plan sets out how we plan to manage our rivers, lakes, groundwaters and coastal water to ensure their protection. We’d like to hear your views on what we’ve proposed for the waters of the South Western District before the plan is finalised in December 2009.

The Water Framework Directive & Irish Ports

A workshop was jointly hosted by the SWRBD and Dublin Port Company in December 2007.  The main aims of the workshop were:

  • to help Irish Ports better understand the Water Framework Directive and the potential implications of its implementation and
  • to provide a forum for Port Authorities to help them engage with their River Basin District Coordinating Authorities on matters relating the WFD to port operations.

Workshop presentations can be downloaded from the SWRBD Downloads page.
